Last Thursday, it was announced that comedian legend Dave Chappelle would be in Toronto for three nights only. I read it on Twitter from someone, and immediately loaded up (stupid fucking) Ticketmaster. Unfortunately, seeing as ticks were about $60 each and that it’s getting dangerously close to that expensive month of Tuition and First/Last month’s rent and a million other expenses, I held off purchasing. I will not be seeing the show.
When I was 13 I watched this skit with my friends on Comedy Network and laughed so hard that I passed out. I literally fainted from laughter, and that’s never happened since.
Comedy and making general hilarious observations has ,and continues to be, my nervous twitch/security blanket. It’s what I do to make this often monotonous existence we’re all forced to pony up with together semi-amusing. Often it isn’t, but it’s been a longtime dream of mine to one day be a comedian. Still hasn’t happened, but fuck it, maybe one day.
Since I won’t be able to go see Mr. Chappelle this week in Toronto (unless I’m blessed with some sort of divine intervention/free tickets) here’s his Inside the Actors Studio interview. After watching it, I’m sure you’ll agree with me that he’s one of the most genius men who ever dared to set foot in Hollywood, CA.
